# Quick Start Guide

By following this quick start guide, you will set up the XVision cameras effectively, ensuring optimal performance of your vehicle monitoring system. Proper installation and configuration are key to achieving accurate detection and reliable operation with the [**XVision Video Analytics Platform**](https://minnovation.com.au/alphax-xvision/video-analytics-platform-vehicle-monitoring-system/).

### **Summary of Key Recommendations**

* **Mount cameras at a height of 3-6 meters** to balance coverage and detail.
* **Position cameras 1-5 meters from the road**, considering site-specific factors.
* **Set vertical tilt angles between 20° and 30°**, and keep horizontal angles within 15° of parallel to traffic.
* **Set Horizontal Tilt (Roll Angle) to < +/- 5°:** Keep the camera level, with less than 5**°** deviation from the true horizontal plane.
* **Use high-resolution cameras** (4K preferred) for extended detection distances and better detail.
* **Ensure objects remain in view for at least 2 seconds** by adjusting the FOV based on vehicle speeds.
* **Object size in frame.** For a human to be detected, the minimum height is 4% of the total image height. For a vehicle, the minimum height is 3% of the total image height. However, this requires perfect image conditions and no obstructions to the view. To minimise the risk of missed detections, we recommend a height of at least 8% for humans and 6% for vehicles. Objects larger than 30% may be too large and have potential to be missed.
* **Mitigate environmental challenges** through proper equipment selection and installation techniques.
* **Perform thorough testing and regular maintenance** to sustain system performance.
