Create New Asset Class

The "Create New Asset Class" view enables users to add asset classes by selecting a site, name, and badge colour.

The "Create New Asset Class" view allows users to add a new asset class by completing three mandatory fields: selecting a site, providing a name, and choosing a badge color via a color picker. The form includes options to cancel or save the entry, ensuring intuitive input validation and streamlined creation of asset classes for improved organization.

Field Validation and Behaviours

1. Site

   • Dropdown selection is mandatory. Users cannot proceed without choosing a site.

2. Name

   • The field is mandatory. A blank field or invalid input triggers an error, preventing the asset class from being created.

3. Badge Colour

   • Clicking the field triggers a colour picker dialog.

   • The user must select a colour from the chart. Once chosen, the field updates to show the selected colour.

4. Create Button

   • Only becomes active once all required fields are completed with valid inputs.

Note : The close icon (X) in the top-right corner of the Edit Asset Class modal allows users to exit without saving changes.

How the Badge Colour Picker Works

• Colour Picker Activation

  • Clicking on the Badge Colour field opens a colour picker widget.

• Colour Selection

  • The widget allows users to browse and select colours visually.

  • Users can either click on a colour from the chart or enter a specific colour code (e.g., HEX, RGB) if supported.

• Confirmation

  • Once the user selects a colour, the picker closes, and the selected colour is applied to the field.

User Workflow Example

1. Open the "Create New Asset Class" view.

2. Select a Site from the dropdown menu.

3. Enter a descriptive Name for the asset class.

4. Click the Badge Colour field to open the colour picker.

5. Choose a colour from the chart and confirm your selection.

6. Click the Create button to save the new asset class.

7. The modal closes, and the asset class is added to the system.
